In this week’s video, we talk about “A Few Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy Followers”.
I decided to go back to basics of running a social media campaign.
One of the first things clients ask us about managing their social media accounts is getting as many followers as quickly as possible.
Other agencies have purchased followers from dodgy backstreet type websites to keep their clients happy.
This is a total waste of time and pretty much a short-term vanity project.
Growing your followers organically is the best policy. It might take a bit longer, but at least you will have a niche specific, highly engaged following that both like and enjoy your content.
Hi, and welcome to this week’s “Small Business Marketing Tips Friday”
In this week’s video, we’re gonna talk about “Buying Followers.”
Now, before anyone starts shouting at the screen. I’m not suggesting that you go out and buy followers, I’m suggesting that you DON’T buy followers.
So, why am I talking about this and why should you care?
When new clients want us to manage their social media campaigns.
One of the first questions they ask is:
“How can they get more followers?”
How can they grow their followers?
and most of them have seen you know, these adverts that are on Twitter and on Instagram about buying followers.
And they ask if we can do the same.
Unfortunately, we can’t and in this video I’m going to go through some of the reasons why I think you shouldn’t.
So, why not! Why shouldn’t you “buy” followers?
Why shouldn’t you go with a company that’s willing to do this for you?
Here’s some of the reasons:
So, I might be stating the obvious here, but these are NOT real followers!
These are bogus accounts set up by bogus people and if you want me to be honest? These accounts will deleted within weeks or even months.
Because they are bogus and they will probably be deleted, they’ll never engage with you, they’ll never interact, they’ll never ask any questions,
They’ll never “like” or “retweet” any of your content I just don’t see the point.
In essence, what you’re doing is throwing your money away.
Whether you build your social media account yourself, or you get somebody else to manage it.
Make sure you grow them organically!
So, how do you grow your followers organically?
First off, you need to post really great content!
It doesn’t even have to be your own content, It just needs to be great content that you’re sharing.
Next thing you need to do is post consistently.
I don’t mean posting for one week and then leaving it another week, I mean posting every day, every week, every month, every year!
It’s also a good idea to engage with new and existing followers.
Simply spark up a conversation or just thank them for sharing a piece of your content.
You’re also gonna wanna repost and share their content too!
I’ve lost count the amount of people that actually just share their own content and never ever share anyone else’s. I can’t believe it!
Lastly, don’t just share articles, just make sure you mix up your posts with text, images, GIFs and even video.
So, if you do some of things I’ve just mentioned, there’s no need to “buy followers”! You can grow them organically.
Thanks for watching and I’ll see ya next next week.
